TO A WIFE
Softer than the summer rain
Are your kisses refrain,sweet-heart
Couplet Inspired by Amy Lowell's 'To A Husband'
SPACES Gael Turnbull(1928-2004,a Scottish doctor-poet created the imagist Spaces form in his collection Briefly (1967) a two line poem with a larger than usual space
Turnbull called poems using his device ‘Spaces’, and noted of these ‘The visual “space” is,a pause or hesitation, even a temporary dislocation of attention’ .
Here is an example of mine
a window pane shatters
nobody makes a home run
SPACES an imagism form it has a title and three lines ,the middle being blank
and left to the readers imagination.
A footle-2 lines,2 syllables (ie a trochaic monometer)
on her lips-
a face cold and
beauty in her stare-
but she was not
The lanterne form in a linked sequence
My fingers reach to touch the sky
Where swallows circle,then southwards fly.
enveloped in fog
the bonfire night party ends...
is life a damp squib ?
across the square---
berries rot beneath the
the gamekeeper heads home
Soft mist,and mild days of
Blue-bell glaze,growing wild beneath
BRING TO LIGHT
in the shadows,
sliver lining the cloud-
forgiveness heals with whispers said
A LITERAL IMPRESSION
swirling swathes swarm,
stirring stark sensations once hid
ALL HALLOWS EVE
across the lawn
dead leaves dance together-
until the tempo fades as the
above the nettles
Chill breath of autumn
Sears the poppy scarlet red,
On his memory'd cenotaph.
Tears trickle in the furrowed
Faces of young comrades
.....now long dead
the dutch hoe
rusting in the
Cameo-OLD WIVES TALES
I change.... but in death
a bay leaf falls and dies-
My regret ... follows you to the grave
upon the fresh earth the asphotel lily lies-
In country lore of days of old
flowers ...a symbolic story told
